District Office Constituent Outreach Coordinator

Summary: The Constituent Outreach Coordinator assists the Representative with communications tasks and constituent outreachand services. This person must have the ability to thrive in a professional, fast-paced work environment, manage a heavy and diverse workload, and display resourcefulness in perceiving and responding to constituent concerns.

The essential functions of this position include:

Assisting the Representative with constituent service and outreach
Serving as a liaison between constituents and state agencies, such as Illinois State Police and Illinois Department of Employment Security, to resolve problems relating to state services including FOID and unemployment
Communicating with other State Legislators, House staff, lobbyists, and members of the public
Creating, updating, and managing social media content on Facebook and Twitter
Planning successful public events to inform and engage residents of the 42nd District
Producing constituent correspondence, including birthday, congratulations, and condolence letters
Explaining legislation to constituents
Joining the Representative at public events and provide on-site support (such as taking photos and collecting contact information)

 


Work Environment:

Work is performed in the district office for the 42nd House District in Lombard and other locations as needed
Typical work hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Hours are subject to change. Occasional weekends may be required
Travel may be required

 

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred.
Strong writing skills
Ability to communicate professionally and accurately and maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations
Experience managing and prioritizing multiple tasks, both independently and as part of a team
Computer proficiency; ability to work with data preferred
A demonstrated interest in state government, politics and policy, current affairs, public service, or non-profit work
